To promote research into the study of human, plants and other genomes. SBRI will use computational as well as experimental approaches
to catalogue genes as well as proteins encoded by the human and plants genome.
To disseminate curated information together with powerful
analysis tool about human genes and proteins freely
to the global scientific community through the world
wide web and published articles in peer-reviewed scientific
journals.
To educate researchers and students from India and
abroad in using and developing the state-of-the-art
tools and techniques for genomic and proteomic research.
This includes inviting leading researchers from various
disciplines to give lectures and to promote collaborative
research.
To establish and maintain collaborations with laboratories and Institutes in India and abroad involved in research in the areas
Agriculture Biotechnology and Herbal and Medicinal plants.
To establish and maintain collaborations with laboratories
and Institutes in India and abroad involved in related
areas of research.
To invent and implement structures and algorithms
to improve communication, understanding, management
and analysis of medical and biological information.
To utilize the research capabilities for the development
of socially and medically relevant biological tools
and medicines.
To facilitate, conduct and organize research work
by teams comprised of core groups leading to inventions
and to cooperate or work in tandem with national/international
organizations to meet this end and also to work for
acquiring the patents of such inventions.
To investigate and conduct research into hitherto
unexplored / less explored scientific areas with profound
scientific approach.
To manufacture, market and promote products and programs
developed in-house by SBRI using various scientific
tools.
To organize visits of national/international personalities
from various fields, conduct seminars, lectures, shows,
conferences, and training programs in order to advance
the learning in the field of Biosciences.
